Mr. Suraci’s Thoughts on Halloween
By William C.
For Halloween, 6th grader William C. interviewed the principal, Mr. Suraci, on his thoughts on Halloween! Celebrating Halloween at home and in school are two things Mr. Suraci had a lot to talk about. Halloween spirit day, on October 30th, is one of his favorite days, after Yankees versus Mets day! Before you read the interview, ask yourself, how do I think of Halloween?
Q. What is your favorite part about Halloween?
A. My favorite part about Halloween is seeing my three boys enjoy dressing up and trick or treating. To this day, I enjoy what Halloween has to offer. I love the scary costumes and the frights.
Q. Are you planning any school events to celebrate Halloween this year?
A. On October 30, Halsey will be celebrating a Halloween Spirit Day. We will be doing this in a safe orderly matter. (Students can wear appropriate costumes but can’t wear masks.)
Q. What are you doing on Halloween this year?
A. I’m taking my sons trick or treating. We also are going to carve out Jack-O-Lanterns. Lastly, we will be going pumpkin picking.
Q. What did you do on Halloween when you were growing up as a kid?
A. Halloween was not as safe when I was growing up. Still, we enjoyed trick or treating just as much as we do now. I am happy it is safer now.
Q. Do you think it is safe for kids to go trick or treating alone?
A. No, they should go trick or treating in groups of friends. Remember to pay attention when walking on the street. Be responsible and respectful.
