Multi-Cultural Fair Dances Across the Stage
by Cameron M.

Traditional Indian Dancing

On Thursday the 11th, Halsey Junior High School 157 held a Multi-Cultural Fair. It was introduced by Mr. Suraci and Ms. West. Boris from the 7th grade told us about the program’s purpose, which was to celebrate the vast diversity of Halsey’s students.
There was lots of singing and dancing from different cultures. Libia, a 7th grade sang a song in Spanish, as did Carlos A., who sang a song called ‘Mi Peru el Aire de Tu Casa.’ A Russian Hip-Hop mix was
performed by Gali and Rustamjon and Goroda K. performed a Russian song on the piano called ‘A World That There Isn’t.’
Dances from different cultures included two Indian dances performed by Radhika, who also performed the Chinese Ribbon dance with Katie S. Israeli break dancing brothers Daniel C. and his little brother Micheal, who call themselves the “Israeli B-Boys,” performed to loud applause and Rola E., from Lebanon, performed a belly dance.
After the performances the crowd went down to the cafeteria to sample food from all over the world. Celebrating Multi-Culturalism at Halsey is just one of the great events we have here.
