The school year is quickly drawing to an end. The production of movies for our final project is well underway. Post-production requires that the Halsey Bulldog Productions image appear at the end of every film in order for it to be considered for the Halsey Bulldog Film Festival. More information on the Film Festival will be coming as we get closer. But Click this image to download a copy of the image to put in your film.

Movie Making Project

Ms. SVB's 'Gum Incident' Script

Gimp Free Download

Pivot Free Download

How do you tell a story with moving images? What tools do you use to create a movie? How do you promote a movie so that movie goers will want to spend their money to buy tickets to see your work? These questions and more will be explored in our Movie Making Project.

Homework Assignment - Movie Poster Mashup

Part I - Story Telling

If your best friend were a super hero, what would it be like to play basketball in gym with him on your team, or worse, on the opposite team? What would it be like to discover you could fly in the middle of math class? If you had x-ray vision would you use it to cheat on your tests? Exploring the concepts of school and being super powered, students will develop a story and then a script.

Story Board

Part II - Animation and Movie Making

Using Pivot, movie makers will animate their script.
Using Windows Movie Maker, directors will put the pieces of their film together, along with a sound track that could include dialogue and narrative.

Part III - Finished Product
Students save their movies and then create web pages using Wix.com to showcase their movie and the script they created. The following link is the finalized version of The Gum Incident.

Part III - PR and Promotion
Movie Maker's World Premiere Event will be held in the Auditorium during grade assemblies.

Yahoo Avatar

The Avatar Project is a multi-part project that covers concepts of self-representation, the writing process, basic computer usage and graphic design.

Part I

How do you want to be seen in school? If Halsey JHS 157 were a video game you could make a customized avatar. What would you want it to say about you? In class we are writing a two paragraph response in our IF Book to that question.

Paragraph one answers what characteristics/personality traits you want people to see in your avatar.

Paragraph two explains why those characteristics/personality traits are important to you.

Part II

Type your response in Microsoft Word and proofread until your text is ready for a final draft.

Part III

Create two images for your avatar using online avatar creation tools on your left or from an image you create or a picture you bring to class.

Part IV

Taking the two or more images created, use GIMP to merge the images and create a truly unique avatar.

Part V

Layout the text and image of your avatar in Microsoft Word. Proofread and submit your final draft.
